Early Coovadia's family photo

Looking through family albums is one of the most enriching experiencing, not only do photographs and documents constitute an integral part of our collective memories but are a source of great deal of information about family histories.

The 125th anniversary of the arrival of the first Coovadia to South Africa is a time for celebration and reflection on the impact the family and other emigrants from the South Asian sub continent made on South African history and culture. This creation of a family website will ensure that the Coovadia's and their extended families will continue to strengthen the ties that bind but also use to write the family history and achievements.

One of the aims of this family tree project is to act as a catalyst for people, to begin a systematic search through their family photographic albums and documents, and ensure that they are properly stored and preserved. We want to encourage people to send us documents, photographs and to create their websites.
